About the Artist
I retired in 1993 to devote my time to painting. It has been very rewarding and I have enjoyed every minute.
My interest in abstract and non-objective painting has developed slowly over the years. Line, shape, color, and contrast are what pulls the viewer into a painting and causes them to linger awhile. I enjoy clean lines, rich color, pure whites, and intense darks that strengthen the feeling of the painting. Rather than offering a serene format, I prefer to startle the senses of the viewer.
Being a structured person, my paintings reflect that part of my personality. I hope the viewer experiences a sense of wonder and perhaps questions why a painting was accomplished in a certain way.
From time to time I return to a traditional approach of watercolor in order to regain the basics. Painting in oil also has this effect. I continue to take workshops and seminars in order to learn more exciting ways of expression. I hope you see something in my paintings that you enjoy.
